On this fine day in May, I want to give a shout out to all the lovely editors out there! You know, the ones who comfort the authors during their content edit freak-outs. The ones who tell you that, “no, you don’t need to go back to the beginning of the book and re-write every character trait your heroine has ever displayed.” The ones who find random letters lingering in the middle of your precious sentences. Or even explain to you that the tool is called a vise not a vice (I mean, I’ve never really used a vise, so it never occurred to me it could be a whole different word!)
The editors of the world not only make our books shine, they also ensure that the world that was created in our head makes sense to the real people who might one day read the book. They make sure no one dies and accidentally gets re-incarnated in the next scene, unless of course you meant for them to be reincarnated, which is totally cool.
Editors are awesome. They do so much, and their name doesn’t get to go on the book spine. So any time you can send an editor some love, do it! They deserve it!
In other late breaking news, the musical that I wrote the lyrics for made Broadway World for its upcoming run in Naples Florida! Check out the article, and if you’re in the area, come see the show!
